Saif Ali Khan Attack: Police Say Accused Is Bangladeshi, Broke Into Actor’s House for Robbery
Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national who had illegally entered India and had been living under the false name Bijoy Das, has been arrested for allegedly breaking into actor Saif Ali Khan's home and attacking him and his staff during a burglary attempt.

DCP Zone 9 Dixit Gedam said the arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad and is 30 years old, adding that he entered actor Saif Ali Khan's house with the intention of robbery.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam said, “We arrested the accused from Thane last night. He has been identified as Mohammad Islam and is of Bangladeshi origin.”

Gedam added, “We have applied sections of the Passport Act against him after he could not produce any proof to show he was Indian, and we found some proof to show he is Bangladeshi.”
The officer stated that the accused did not have any prior criminal record and was unaware that he was attempting to commit robbery at the residence of Saif Ali Khan.
Mumbai Police informed in the wee hours of Sunday that they have arrested from Maharashtra's Thane West area the main accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case.

The accused has told police that he used the rear staircase and air-conditioning ducts to get inside the building. He has also said it was the first time he had entered the building. Police have said they may recreate the scene with the accused.
The police said Mohammad Shariful was scared as he sensed that someone was very close to him. As a result, he hid himself in the mangroves but was eventually caught, they said.
The actor, meanwhile, is recovering well after he was rushed to Lilavati Hospital late on Wednesday night with six stab injuries, one of them near his spine.
