Rohit Sharma Dropped from Test Team: Selectors Inform, Set to Meet Virat Kohli for Future Plans
Rohit Sharma, took the decision to "rest himself" for the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Rohit Sharma Dropped from Test Team: The captain of India, Rohit Sharma, took the decision to "rest himself" for the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. During the toss, Jasprit Bumrah walked into the visitors' captaincy role, and at that moment, he revealed Rohit is "resting" from the very important Sydney Test, where India has an opportunity to level the five-match series and clutch the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

According to a report from Indian Express, new revelations have been made regarding Rohit Sharma's absence at Sydney. Well, chances are, this has possibly been the last match of the 37-year-old with the Indian Test side.
Rohit, who is struggling for runs in Tests, is not going to be part of the selectors' scheme beyond the Australia tour. The report states that same thing has been told to the right-handed batter.
Even if India somehow manages to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), which is scheduled for June 2025 at the Lord's Cricket Ground, it is extremely unlikely that Rohit will make a comeback into the Test side.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir and chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, took the decision with a consensus without keeping Rohit Sharma in the playing XI for the Sydney Test.
Rohit Sharma struggled in the three matches he played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after missing the opener of the series in Perth. He registered scores of 3,6,10,3, and 9.
At the time of the toss in Sydney, India stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah said, "Obviously, our captain (Rohit) has shown his leadership as well. He’s opted to rest in this game. So that shows that there’s a lot of unity in our team. There’s no selfishness. Whatever is in the team’s best interest, we’re looking to do that."
The selectors are set to have a discussion regarding the Champions Trophy as well. This meeting is likely to be held after the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy when the entire team returns to India.

Selectors will speak with Virat Kohli
As if the protest had made a scratching noise, an in-running Kohli turned in vain towards the corridor of the pavilion splashing just 17 figures on the overnight sheets. A shame. That Kohli has not done justice to himself, given the fact that though he scored a century in the second inning of the Perth Test, the player has been showing the pale shadow of that old self.
More shameful has been the case with Virat Kohli as all seven dismissals during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy have been in similar fashion, time after time falling for wide deliveries.
The same goes with the Indian Express report, which claims that the selectors have plans to talk with Kohli about his future after the end of the series against Australia.
The other senior cricketer in the team isRavindra Jadeja, who is likely to be part of India's biggest transition in future when the team moves into the next era.
