Ravichandran Ashwin delivered a farewell speech in the Indian dressing room after announcing his decision to bid adieu to international cricket in a press conference after the Brisbane Test. Rohit Sharma accompanied the veteran spinner for the presser, where he started off by announcing his retirement. However, he didn't take any questions from reporters as it was an emotional moment for him.

“It feels like just now I toured Australia for the first time. I saw everybody transition. Rahul paaji left, Sachin paaji left. But, trust me guys, everybody’s time comes and it’s truly my time. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have built some great relationships, especially over the last 4-5 years. I am leaving behind some of my teammates who have been playing with dearly.”

“Every passing moment in the last four years, I have realised how much I value their relationship and value them as a player. I have had a great time,” he added.

"If I am not needed right now in the series, I am better off saying goodbye to the game," R Ashwin told India skipper Rohit Sharma before his surprise international retirement, refusing to let anyone else write his script after 14 years of service to the game.
So for those who saw Rohit Sharma's press conference after the match would know that Rohit when asked "When did he get to know about this decision of Ashwin? " had said "I (Rohit Sharma) heard this when I came to Perth, obviously I was not there for the first three to four days of the test match but this was in his (Ashwin) mind since then" he also added that when they had the chat , Rohit somehow convinced him to stay for the pink ball test in Adelaide.
