PM Modi’s Historic Bilateral Visit to Argentina: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina today evening for a two-day visit, which is the first PM-level bilateral visit from India to Argentina in 57 years.
PM will start his visit to Argentina today evening by paying homage to General José de San Martín, Argentina’s freedom fighter and national hero. Later, he will be accorded a ceremonial welcome.
The Prime Minister will have delegation-level talks followed by lunch hosted by President Javier Milei. PM will also visit the football stadium of the iconic club Boca Juniors in the city.
This visit will further strengthen the Strategic Partnership and open new areas of cooperation. Key areas include trade and investment, health and pharmaceuticals, defence and security, infrastructure, mining and mineral resources, agriculture and food security, green energy, ICT and digital innovation, disaster management, science and technology, education, and people-to-people linkages.
PM had visited the country in 2018 to attend the G20 Summit.

Upon his arrival at the Ezeiza International Airport, he was given a ceremonial welcome. He took to X and wrote, "Landed in Buenos Aires for a bilateral visit which will focus on augmenting relations with Argentina. I'm eager to be meeting President Javier Milei and holding detailed talks with him."
“Celebrating the enduring friendship between our nations. PM @narendramodi has landed in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on an Official Visit. He was accorded a ceremonial welcome on arrival at the airport. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian PM to Argentina in 57 years, marking a new chapter in India-Argentina ties,” Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on social media platform X.
PM will be in Argentina on July 4 and 5 on the invitation of President Javier Milei.
Last meeting between the two leaders was in November 2024 on the sidelines of G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
“The bilateral visit of the Prime Minister will further deepen the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Argentina,” it said in a statement.
In his departure statement, PM said that Argentina is a key economic partner in Latin America and a close collaborator in the G20, and he looked forward to talks with President Javier Milei, whom he had met last year.

“We will focus on advancing our mutually beneficial cooperation, including in the areas of agriculture, critical minerals, energy, trade, tourism, technology, and investment,” PM Modi had said.
PM’s arrival in Buenos Aires comes after he completed his successful visit to Trinidad and Tobago, where he was conferred with the country’s highest civilian honour, ‘The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’. He is the first foreign leader to receive this award. The award was given to PM for his global leadership, ties with the Indian diaspora, and humanitarian work during the COVID-19 pandemic. During that leg of the tour, India and Trinidad and Tobago signed 6 agreements to expand bilateral cooperation.
After Argentina, PM will proceed to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit, followed by a state visit. The last stop of the 5-nation tour will be Namibia. Indian diaspora in Buenos Aires greet PM
The Indian community in Buenos Aires extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister, highlighting the growing ties between India and Latin America and the increasing visibility of India’s global diplomatic outreach.
