PM Modi Visits Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Brunei, Unveils Indian High Commission’s New Chancery
PMO Narendra Modi is in Brunei to meet Hassanal Bolkiah, the sultan and prime minister, to discuss collaboration and cooperation in areas such as space and energy.
PMO Narendra Modi is in Brunei to meet Hassanal Bolkiah, the sultan and prime minister, to discuss collaboration and cooperation in areas such as space and energy. Brunei holds a significant position in New Delhi’s space program. Both countries have signed three MoUsin regarding the specific field.
India has made a telemetry tracking and command station in Brunei that tracks and monitors satellite and rockets' eastward launches. The India-Brunei relationship started when oil was discovered there, currently, 14000 Indians are residents there, and Indian doctors and teachers are a major part of the development of the nation.

The small country on the island of Borneo is the most obvious supply of gas energy for India. Thus the reason to have a long-term relationship with an island country.
A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs of India said "Brunei’s importance as a partner in India’s ‘Act East’ Policy and Indo-Pacific Vision. It emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and traditional ties between the two countries, which have fostered a friendly relationship based on mutual respect and understanding."
His meeting is set to happen on Wednesday but before the meeting, the PM went to visit Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei which was named after Omar Ali Saifuddien III, the 28th Sultan of Brunei on Tuesday.

Brunei’s minister of religious affairs Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin went to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi with several attendees who were Members of the Indian community and Brunei’s minister of health Dato Dr. Haji Mohammad Isham was also present.
Before visiting the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque he went to inaugurate the new building for the Indian High Commission in Brunei by lighting a lamp and unveiling a plaque, on how the building is designed to embody a profound sense of Indianness, use of elegant claddings and durable Kota stones and harmoniously blending classic and contemporary elements giving it a Indian aesthetic feel paying homage to their origin.
After this, he went on to interact with the members of Members of the Indian community who were present there and being the bridge between the two countries strengthening the diplomatic relationships.
