Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India on Thursday from his first trip to Russia and Austria, where he engaged in important discussions with leaders of the respective countries to help strengthen diplomatic ties. On Thursday morning, July 11, PM Modi’s plane landed at Palam airport in Delhi, finishing his two-nation visit to Russia and Austria.
Prime Minister shared a post on X thanking for the warm welcome and hospitality and expressing hopefulness for India-Austria ties, “May the India-Austria friendship scale new heights of progress! Highlights from a special visit,”
After visiting the Astria capital this week, PM Modi became the first Prime Minister to visit the country in 41 years. PM Modi met Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer during the visit, during which a discussion took place about the ongoing situation of the Ukraine conflict and in West Asia.
PM Modi posted on X, “My visit to Austria has been historic and immensely productive. New vigour has been added to the friendship between our nations. I am glad to have attended diverse programmes while in Vienna. Gratitude to Chancellor @karlnehammer, the Austrian Government and people for their hospitality and affection.”

People welcomed PM Modi by chanting Modi, Modi when he arrived on stage at a community event.
In a post on X, Chancellor Nehammer appreciates the hard work of the team and every individual, including the Federal Army, the police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the protocol officer, and many others.
"In order for a state visit as big as that of @narendramodi to Austria to work, dozens of employees are intensively busy for weeks. Hundred more are involved on the day of the visit,” Nehammer said.
“Many thanks to the teams of @MFA_Austria, @bkagvat as well as the Federal Army, the police the protocol and the many helping hands in the background for the professional planning, the careful organisation and the perfect execution. Thank you!” he added.
Both leaders appreciated the exchange of traditional culture, and PM Modi noted the interest in yoga as well as Ayurveda among Austrians.

Leaders also noted the importance of skill development and the mobility of skilled personnel with the support of expanded support in the high-tech sector. So both leaders came to the decision to welcome the operationalization of the two-sided Migration and Mobility Agreement.
The interaction with the business leaders from both countries is also being highlighted by PM Modi.
Said PM Modi, “Met business leaders from India and Austria, Our nations are confident of leveraging the many opportunities ahead to boost commercial and trade linkages,”
Since the Ukraine conflict, it was PM Modi’s first visit to Moscow. Before Austria, he was in Russia, where he participated in the 22nd India-Russia summit with President Vladimir Putin. PM Modi discussed the peace solution for the Ukraine conflict on the battleground.
