NDA Om Birla vs Cong’s K Suresh in Lok Sabha Speaker Elections
Loksabha speaker elections today: The commotion between the NDA and the opposition party Congress over who will host as the Lok Sabha pro speaker whether BJP’s Om Birla or Congress Kodikunnil Suresh and now comes to this general agreement.
For the first time after nearly 48 years, a consensus is being held to elect the MP as the pro-speaker for the 18th Lok Sabha session for the Oath of newly elected ministers.
The first three times when a consensus took place between the parties to elect a Lok Sabha speaker was back in 1952, 1967 and 1976.

This consensus is to elect someone among BJP’s Om Birla and Congress Kodikunnil Suresh as the 18th Lok Sabha speaker.
BJP OM Birla is the MP of Kota, Rajasthan for the third time and Congress Kodikunnil Suresh is the MP of Mavelikara constituency, Kerala, and also known as the longest-serving MP as the member of the Parliament.
Till now Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh has served a total of eight terms in the Parliament.
However, the NDA government that has 293 MPs under his control out of 543 members in the Lok Sabha and his probability of winning the Election contest as the INDIA Bloc has only 234 MPs.

If BJP Om Birla wins the Election contest then this will mark his third term MP, to be elected as the speaker in the Lok Sabha for the second time in a row.
The BJP MP from Kota Om Birla was the previous pro-speaker in the 17th Lok Sabha session.
President Murmu is expected to attend a joint meeting with both houses of Parliament on June 27 and the Lok Sabha speaker will be elected on June 26.
At first, the INDIA bloc planned to be the Deputy Speaker but due to the inability of the BJP-led NBA government, the INDIA bloc has chosen Congress MP K Suresh as the pro speaker in the 18th Lok Sabha.
