Pakistani Family in Delhi for Sons’ Heart Treatment Departs India as Visa Deadline Ends

After the issuance of India's order in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Pakistani nationals have been returning to their country. This family from Sindh had to head back to Sindh without general objectives since they had come to New Delhi for the life-saving procedure of their two minor sons.

It was this month, and in consequence of the Baisaran terror massacre that killed 26 people, most of them tourists, the Indian central government had issued a 'Leave India' notice to all Pakistani nationals. Visit visas issued to all Pakistani citizens were due to expire on April 27, while medical visas had a deadline of April 29.

Shahid Ali's two sons, Talha and Taha, nine and seven years old, respectively, lived in Sindh's Hyderabad and required the procedure as soon as possible since it involves congenital heart disease. According to a news report cited by the PTI, after facing a lot of hurdles in communicating with specialists, numerous tests, and obtaining medical visas, Ali came with his sons to the national capital of India in March.

"Unfortunately, after the Pahalgam incident, the situation changed, we just didn't have time for our appeals to be heard properly," Ali said. He added that it wasn't even a matter of procedures versus expenses.

While making an appeal for the family to stay, Ali disclosed that he spent around ₹10 million on their trip.

The primary cause of this, the so-called "heartbreak", is that the procedure hasn't been completed, although medical efforts in Delhi were the best, as cited by Ali in PTI.

Ali and his family are among dozens of Pakistanis who returned to their homeland in the past week. Shahid Ali is reported to have even approached the government of Pakistan to request that the life-saving procedure be conducted for his two sons in some other country.

Ayan, another Pakistani, along with his family, was forced back from New Delhi last Monday after he failed in undergoing a medical procedure that was supposed to treat him for an affliction that had lingered for a year.

The lower half of the body of the boy has reportedly been paralyzed after taking a hit from police because of a miscommunication.

With the order of India against the exit of Pakistani nationals from the country, citizens of the neighboring country have furred out through the Attari-Wagah border.

India made several decisions in its punitive actions against Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, which included the closure of the integrated check post at Attari, a suspension on the Indus Waters Treaty and reduction in the overall personnel strength of their high commissions in Pakistan.
