Operation Ankush: Snatchers, illegal liquor suppliers arrested by North East Delhi Police
Under the ongoing “Operation Ankush” specially launched by the North-East District, several cases of mobile snatching and illegal liquor suppliers have been arrested.

Under the ongoing “Operation Ankush” specially launched by the North-East District, several cases of mobile snatching and illegal liquor suppliers have been arrested.
The objective of Operation Ankush is to curb street and organised crime and to deter the criminals/anti-social elements along with enhancing a sense of safety among citizens.
"During an investigation of a case at Welcome police station, a police team comprising SI Dharambir, ASI Devender, HC Amit and Const. Mukesh received secret information. On 14.02.22 police team laid a trap near Muskan Chowk, Welcome. At around 9.45 PM, on the instance of the informer, a person was apprehended," Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North-East District, New Delhi, said.
He added, "During a cursory search, one mobile phone was recovered from his possession for which he could not reply satisfactorily. During the investigation, his identity was established as Mohd and the mobile phone recovered from him was found to be stolen. Accordingly, he was arrested. On further investigation, he confessed for his crime and disclosed his involvements in other cases also."
In another case in the Welcome police station, on 14.02.2022, on the basis of secret information, a team of PS-Welcome comprising of SI Dharambir, ASI Devender, HC Amit and Const. Mukesh apprehended a person.
On his cursory search total number of 98 quarters of RACE-7 brand, Haryana Liquor recovered from his possession. During the examination, his identity was established as Gulshan Kumar. Accordingly, a case has been registered at PS-Welcome and an investigation was taken up. He confessed to his involvement in multiple cases. Further investigation is in progress.
In the third case in Welcome, on the basis of secret information, a team of Welcome police station, comprising of SI Dharambir, ASI Devender, HC Amit and Const. Mukesh apprehended a lady.
On his cursory search total number of 33 quarters of RACE-7 brand, Haryana Liquor recovered from his possession. During an examination, his identity was established as a resident of Babar Pur.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Welcome and an investigation was taken up. He confessed to his involvement in multiple cases. Further investigation is in progress. On checking he was previously found involved in 06 cases of the Delhi Excise Act.
In the fourth case, a police team comprising SI Dharambir, HC Amit, Const. Mukesh and Const. Shivam, while patrolling in the area reached near Janta Colony, in front of Idgah, Welcome and noticed that on seeing the police team, one person started walking at a fast pace and tried to flee away.
He was chased and stopped by the alert police team. During a cursory search, one button actuated knife was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, a case was registered and an investigation was taken up.
During the course of the investigation, his identity was established as Mohsin. He confessed to his involvements in multiple cases of snatching. On checking he was previously found involved in 22 cases of snatching & theft.
