Now My Father Is Dead Too’: Punjab Farmer Succumbs to Pakistan Shelling Injuries, Son Asks “What’s My Fault?”

Now My Father Is Dead Too’: The man identified as a 57-years-old farmer in the Ferozepur district in the Punjab state, killed in an incident wherein part of a missile fell on his house during a Pakistani recent intrusion aerial occurred in May, died in Ludhiana on Tuesday.

In a report by PTI, the farmer Lakhwinder Singh a resident of the Khai Pheme Ke village in Ferozepur district, had been on a ventilator these past few days at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana as his condition had worsened.

During the India-Pakistan war, which erupted over Pakistan use of Pakistani drones after Operation Sindoor on May 9, Singh was injured after debris of a Pakistani drone landed in his house.

Sukhwinder Kaur, 50, who is his wife and Jaswinder Singh, 24, their son had also suffered burns.

The three were taken to hospital in Ferozepur, however, they were subsequently transferred to DMCH in Ludhiana where Sukhwinder Kaur died of wounds on May 13.

The son of the couple has been released following the treatment and he complained of how his father had died saying, earlier on I had lost my mother and now my father has died.

Jaswinder remarked that he is still waiting to get the body of his father and no one has come in the administration to ask for any form of assistance.

"What is my fault? All I am left with is five acres of land for farming. I am still recovering from the injuries in my legs,” he said.

On May 7 at around 4.30 am, India launched pre-dawn missile attacks at nine terror targets at Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Still known by the name of Operation Sindoor, they were a retaliation against the April 22 terror attack in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir which left 26 people dead, of which 25 were tourists.

After the Indian attack, Pakistan strike back the Indian military bases and resorted to bombarding the border with shelling, within the following three days.

Pakistan has made several air attacks at several points along the border of the western India including in the district of Punjab which were successfully countered by the Indian security forces following which a cease fire agreement was arrived at on May 10.
