India vs Pakistan
In a masterclass fit for Virat Kohli, in an encounter held in Dubai for the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy, Pakistan were at the receiving end against India. Kohli played a knock for the ages, making his 51st ODI century, leading India to a resounding six-wicket win. He paced his innings to perfection as the men in blue chased down 242 with 45 balls remaining. The last breaths of the game had thoughts of whether wristy Kohli would get to his hundred before the chase was complete, and he sealed both, with a four finishing with an unbeaten 100 from 111 balls.
India had control throughout the chase that seemed like a walkover despite Kohli being granted some late-order assistance. The loss of Shreyas Iyer didn’t disturb the chase as Kohli and Iyer had built a crucial century partnership after Shubman Gill’s departure. Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi bowled a few wides that made it momentarily tricky for Kohli to reach his landmark before India crossed the finish line.
Another feather in Kohli's cap this game was the fact that he became the fastest Indian batsman to score 14,000 ODI runs, crossing the great Sachin Tendulkar in the process. With this cool head, Kohli saw India win against their arch-rivals, reinforcing his stature as one of the greatest chasers in the game.
