Nicholas Hoult Earns 3× Co-Stars in Superman – Beats Corenswet & Brosnahan: James Gunn’s Superman has hit theatres worldwide. Starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult it’s getting good reviews from critics and audience. One of the most anticipated releases of 2025 the superhero adventure film brings a story to life with popular actors who have proven their acting chops. As Superman is doing well and running long at the box office the cast’s salaries have been revealed online.
This might be considered scandalous because the report says Corenswet who plays Clark Kent in the movie was paid $750,000 — the same as his Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" fame) — while Nicholas Hoult who’s been a big-screen staple for decades now was paid the highest salary of the main cast with a reported $2 million. (Remember Robert Downey Jr. was only paid $500,000 for the first "Iron Man" and Chris Evans got $300,000 for the first "Captain America.") As Belloni says though it’s important to note that all three "Superman" stars could get some big bonuses if (well, when) their movie blows everyone away at the box office.
Also important to note that both Corenswet and Brosnahan are TV actors who are untested in film. Hoult on the other hand has been in arthouse favorites, critical darlings and massive blockbusters since he started in "About a Boy" in 2002. Yes Hoult did the necessary stint on "Skins" (other future stars from Britain like Daniel Kaluuya did the same) but he’s also been in movies like "Mad Max: Fury Road", "The Favourite", "X-Men: First Class" and its sequels, "The Menu", "Juror No. 2" and "Nosferatu".

Critical reaction to the Warner Bros. Discovery film is so far positive even though Hollywood studios are getting flak for relying too much on reboots and comic book characters.Rotten Tomatoes has given it an 83% based on 230 reviews.
The main story is about Superman torn between his Kryptonian alien identity and his human connection as he tries to save the people of Earth.
He gets into trouble when he intervenes in a foreign conflict where a dictator is waging war on a defenseless nation for its resources, a possible reference to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
