New FASTag Rules from August 1: Customers whose KYCs are three to five years older need to update their KYC on FASTags or replace them before the deadline runs out to avoid unnecessary problems.

New FASTag Rules from August 1: The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced new rules for FASTag users which will be implemented by August 1, 2024.
These changes are being introduced to make paying tolls easier and faster and also to reduce traffic at toll plazas. NPCI by introducing new rules will focus on Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.

These changes in FASTag rules introduced by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) are:
FASTag companies will have time till October 31 to complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process for all FASTags that were issued 3 to 5 years ago. Thus customers should update their KYC before the deadline to prevent any problems during the time of service.
NPCI rules further state that any FASTags that are older than 5 years need to be updated and replaced. The car owners should check their tags issued date and replayer them before the deadline if they are older than 5 years.
Customer vehicles that are older than 5 years are requested to note these changes and update them.
Customers whose KYCs are three to five years older need to update their KYC on FASTags or replace them before the deadline runs out to avoid unnecessary problems.

The rules further noted that all FASTag users should link their vehicle’s registration number and chassis number with FASTag and new users should link their car’s registration number and chassis number with FASTag within 90 days of buying the vehicle.
New car owners should check properly and update the details and make sure that everything is up to date.
There are also new rules for the providers, they must upload clear pictures of the front and side of the car so that it becomes easy to find the car whether it is linked with FASTag or not. Each FASTag should have a mobile number of the user so that if there are any updates and notifications, the user can be contacted easily.
However, as the deadline to make these changes is set for October 31st so users who are required to update or replace any details or KYC so do so as soon as possible, they are advised not to wait till the last minute as it could create unnecessary problems.
