All 9 days are dedicated to different forms of Durga, also known as ‘Aadishakti’. Navratri Day 1 is dedicated to Goddess Maa Shilaputri also known as Shailputri. Here are all the details of Navratri Day 1, from the colour of the day to puja timings.

Navratri day 1
Navratri Day 1 is dedicated to Goddess Maa Shilaputri. She is described as the daughter of mountains. The name Maa Shilaputri is a combination of two Sanskrit words: ‘shil’ meaning rock and ‘Putri’ meaning daughter. Shila Putri is said to radiate positivity, happiness and light like crores of suns and moons.
Navratri Day 1: Puja timings and other details
Maa Shailputri rides on a bull (Nandi) and carries a trident and lotus in her hands with a moon on her forehead.
Puja timings for Navratri Day 1 will start early in the morning on Thursday. Ghatasthapana Muhurat (kalash) will be from 6:30 am to 7:31 am and Abhijit Muhurat will be from 12:03 pm to 12:51 pm.

Shardiya Navratri Day 1 auspicious colour
The colour of the day for Navratri Day 1 is Orange. The colour of Navratri is decided based on the day of the week on which the festival starts. The colours of the rest of the days of Navratri 2025 will be decided accordingly.

Maa Shilaputri rules over the moon and bestows fortune on her devotees. This form of Aadishakti is known to remove all the malefic effects of the moon in the horoscope and is also known as Shilaputri, Hemavati and Parvati.
Navratri is one of the most important festivals of Hindus which is celebrated with great devotion and fervour all over the country. Navratri is a combination of two Sanskrit words ‘Nav’ meaning nine and ‘Ratri’ meaning nights.
Each day of Navratri is dedicated to different form of Goddess Durga. Devotees celebrate the victory of Goddess Durga over demon Mahishasur. On Vijayadashami or Dussehra day, Goddess Durga killed Mahishasur and established dharma in the universe.
