Nasser Hussain’s Bold Remark on Shubman Gill’s 269 | ‘Who is Virat Kohli? Who is Rohit Sharma?’
The under-fire decision of Shubman Gill was criticised in the Manchester Test, and Nasser Hussain had the advice to give to him.

Shubman Gill’s first series as India captain is rapidly turning into a baptism by fire for the Assam youngster, criticism over his on-field decisions mounting. While Gill had made a good start to the series with the willow scoring back to back hundreds and a double hundred in his first four innings, his outings, both batting and captaincy have taken a dive in the last two games.
Gill's call on the field had been questioned, more so in the fourth Test where his bowling rotation calls were hit by many ex-cricketers. A key bone of contention has been his handiwork with Washington Sundar, who was underutilised despite the fact that the conditions suggested giving the youngster a chance straight away. In a Test where spin was the game-changer, Sundar wasn’t introduced into the attack till after the 60th’s mark, again forgetting that it was the spin-bowling all-rounder who bagged a four-fer during the second innings at the Lord’s Test.

With Gill coming under the attack, former English skipper Nasser Hussain - who was one among those who had questioned Gill's decision over whether to bring in Sundar into the attack - he had some advice for the young captain. Nasser said public opinions can be flip-flopping and told Gill to switch off from social media and focus on the captaincy.
“Especially as a young Indian captain… there's no middle ground. When he was getting 260-odd at Edgbaston and winning the Test match, it was all like, 'who is Virat Kohli? Who is Rohit Sharma? We have moved on'. Then you have a couple of bad games, the series starts going away from you, then every decision is picked on,” Nasser told Sky Sports Cricket.

“The key to it is to stay off social media. You are a young learning captain. Learn from this experience. If you are a batter or a bowler, you are not an end product at the start. It's the same with captaincy,” said the former England skipper further.
Sundar revealed what India lacked immediately after he arrived into the attack, claiming two wickets in a row. But England who were already in good shape when Sundar walked in, seized the platform they had built up and touched 669 in the first innings.
England lead by 311
Thanks to hundreds by Joe Root (150) and Ben Stokes (141) and half centuries from openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, England thumped the Indian bowling attack that was sluggish for most parts of the innings. The hosts have already put themselves in a commanding position to grab an unbeatable series lead in Manchester, as India now need some miraculous effort by their batting unit to come up with some positive outcome.
