MS Dhoni Drops ‘Play Till 60’ Hint in Chat With Sivakarthikeyan, Sparks Chennai Super Kings Frenzy
During a CSK event, actor Sivakarthikeyan sat with MS Dhoni and disregarded rumors about his retirement.
In the recent past, MS Dhoni has been questioned on the subject of retirement many times that it has become a ritual in Chennai Super Kings. Each and every season appears to be full of the same curiosity, the same nervous laughs, the same reluctance of the fans to conceive CSK without him. During the ROAR 26 franchise in Chennai, the same topic reappeared but this time around it was in an environment which made the topic easier to digest and more relaxed and unquestionably touching.
In a speech to a yellow crowd of thousands, Actor Sivakarthikeyan, provided an articulated expression of what millions of CSK well-wishers have been thinking all these years. Speaking of how it is Dhoni that has maintained hope within the circles of his would-be retirement, he remarked that whenever the question of retirement came up, the fans would expect a response of definitely not. Then the line which caught fire with the first word followed; You can play till 60 also, sir.

As usual, Dhoni did not make a dramatic out of the moment. He did not make it fancy, did not play to the gallery, and did not think time does not work in the same way on him. He gave instead the sort of answer that he alone is capable of giving - even-headed, quiet-spoken and pregnant enough to make the conversation lively.
“It’s very difficult,” Dhoni said. When Sivakarthikeyan responded by pointing to his fitness, Dhoni added: “It’s on the way down, it’s not on the way up….I can try.”

The reason behind why Dhoni said I can try is more than meets the eye.
That exchange came true since it held two truths simultaneously. Superficially, it was an innocent fan experience, a bit of jibing and jabbing that is part of the play at a CSK event based on crowd love and brand loyalty. Beneath it, however, was the fact of what MS Dhoni is at this point in his career.

He is also one of the most iconic persons in the history of IPL, and the representative of the CSK transition into one of the most emotionally charged franchises of the league. The presence of this man continues to outshine figures in Chennai. It implies memory, identity, custom and conviction. To a large number of fans, the season has not completely started yet they see Dhoni back in yellow.
And this is the reason why he can say even a line and blow out an enormous portion of a conversation. He did not promise anything. As a matter of fact, he was ready to confess the physical reality that all athletes have to encounter sooner or later. The body is not improving. Time is not reversing. By saying I can try he left enough room to hope and that is all that CSK fans require most of the time.
It was the beauty of the moment which lay in its balance. Sivakartikayan represented the feeling of the crowd. Dhoni was a symbol of realism of a player who is perfectly aware of his position. There was the mystery of his future, immortal, between those two extremes, constant yet never completely disproved, always closed yet never entirely closed.
