MEA Responds to US Report Alleging Plot for Muizzu’s Ouster: ‘Compulsive Hostility Towards India’
On Friday, India denied any media reports associating New Delhi with an alleged failed plot to unseat Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu.

MEA Responds to US Report Alleging Plot for Muizzu’s Ouster: New Delhi has issued a counter to two articles published in the Washington Post-one, which has India being linked to a failed plot to impeach Maldives president Mohamed Muizzu, and the second on Indian agents allegedly trying to eliminate terror elements from Pakistani territory.
According to the Post's report, agents of India's external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), reportedly began discussing the denial of support with opposition leaders in an island nation seen to be pro-China regarding the impeachment of Muizzu.

According to the report, Maldivian opposition leaders offered to bribe 40 MPs, including members from the president's party, to vote to impeach him. But, according to the report, the agents failed to procure enough votes for Muizzu's de-octoberization after months, and the plan failed.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the ministry of external affairs, rejected the news report, said,"Both the newspaper and the reporter in question appear to nurse a compulsive hostility towards India. You can see a pattern in their activities. I leave you to judge their credibility. As far as we are concerned, they have none," PTI quoted Jaiswal as saying.
MEA denial regarding news report of ‘targeted killings’ in Pakistan.
According to the Washington Post report, India's RAW allegedly deployed an assassination program since 2021 to eliminate at least half a dozen people deep within Pakistan. The killings were aimed at members of UN-designated terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad.

Responding to the news report, Jaiswal said,"As regards (the report on) Pakistan, I remind you of what Hillary Clinton said -- 'You cannot keep snakes in your backyard and expect them only to bite your neighbours."
Clinton made the statements in a blunt message to Pakistan in 2011, when she was serving as the US secretary of state.
She had also added that Washington was going to "push the Pakistanis very hard" to get rid of militant bases and take care of groups like the Haqqani network that are responsible for cross-border strikes.
