Maruti and Zydus team up to open a hospital in Sitapur, Gujarat

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has partnered with Zydus Hospitals to open a multi-speciality hospital in Sitapur, Gujarat, in the Ahmedabad district.

As per an official statement, the hospital will be run by Ramanbhai Foundation, the CSR arm of Zydus Group, and will be funded entirely by the Maruti Suzuki Foundation, a CSR initiative of Maruti Suzuki. In addition, the hospital is aiding in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

“When our Gujarat car plant first opened, there was no major medical facility in the region,” said Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India. "We wanted to create a high-quality multi-speciality hospital for the benefit of all people in the region, and we partnered with one of the most reputable healthcare providers, Zydus Hospitals. Fortunately, it arrived in time for the Covid-19 second wave, and we turned it into a Covid-care facility to aid in the war against the pandemic...”

The hospital is intended to represent over 3.75 lakh people in Sitapur and neighbouring villages at low cost. Beginning with a 50-bed facility, capacity can be increased to 100 beds. The 7.5-acre facility is the first in the region to provide mega specialisation facilities. Emergency and trauma treatment, advanced diagnostics, critical care for stabilisation of life-threatening situations, mother and child care, cardiac care, eye care, burns, ENT, internal medicine, and general medicine will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Furthermore, it will have an integrated residential facility with 160 dormitory beds and 20 two-bedroom apartments for hospital management personnel.
