Maha Kumbh: Magh Purnima Snan Begins, Thousands Take Holy Dip at Prayagraj’s Sangam
As the Mahakumbh 2025 enters its final stretch, security measures have been ramped up, especially with the upcoming Magh Purnima on February 14, ensuring all arrangements are in place for smooth celebrations.

Maha Kumbh: As the Mahakumbh 2025 enters its final stretch, security measures have been ramped up, especially with the upcoming Magh Purnima on February 14, ensuring all arrangements are in place for smooth celebrations.
To monitor the vast crowds gathering at the Ganga ghats, police are utilizing drones to ensure safety and order. This measure is part of the administration's efforts to provide a secure environment for the millions of devotees attending the event.
Lakhs of pilgrims headed to the Sangam Nose, where a stampede last month killed 30 people during Mauni Amavasya Amrit snan. Authorities are on their toes to ensure that no untoward incident happens this time.

Kalpvas is an integral tradition of the Maha Kumbh, which involves living near the Sangam area, adhering to fasting, self-discipline, introspection and spiritual purification. This year over 10 lakh devotees undertook Kalpvas.
ADG Zone Prayagraj Bhanu Bhaskar said, "Four 'snans' have been completed and this is the fifth 'snan', and we have made adequate arrangements for this. Police personnel have been deployed at all parking areas, and special arrangements have been made at all the pressure points. With cooperation from the public, police personnel and fire teams, we are hopeful that this 'snan' will be successful."
The arrival of devotees from all corners of the country continues on the auspicious occasion of Magh Purnima. Special attention has been given to their comfort and dignity.
This year, as in previous years, officials are closely monitoring the bathing areas from helicopters, ensuring smooth arrangements. Additionally, flower showers are being carried out to enhance the spiritual atmosphere of the holy occasion.

The Kalpvasis have been asked to follow the traffic rules and use only authorised parking spaces. To avoid traffic chaos, designated parking lots have been marked for public and private vehicles.
Water police, divers, flood company PAC, NDRF, and SDRF have also been stationed at the bathing ghats. The ghats are under surveillance through CCTV cameras and drones.
The fair area was declared a 'no vehicle zone' from 4 AM onwards on Tuesday. According to an official statement, the rule was to be applied to the entire city from 5 PM onwards, with an exemption for emergency and essential services.
The Uttar Pradesh government said on Tuesday that only 14 days are left for the Maha Kumbh to end and that more than 45 crore people have taken a dip since the grand event began on January 13.
