Madurai Woman Brutally Attacked After Rejecting 25-Year-Old Man’s Advances: Shocking Report

Madurai Woman Brutally Attacked After Rejecting 25-Year-Old Man’s Advances: As anger continues to grow over the recent attack on a lawyer and a teacher in Tamil Nadu, another incident has come to light, in which a woman from Madurai was injured after a man assaulted her for spurning his advances.

The incident, which was captured on footage, occurred at a photocopy centre in Chakra Nagar, Madurai.

In a report by India Today, Lavanya was attacked by Siddiq Raja aged 25, a man who had confronted the woman while she was sitting in the shop on Sunday. He later knocked her out because she would not give in to his advances and speak with him.

Prior to the attack, the accused was believed to have made advances towards her several times. Victims from the nearby shops helped in carrying her to the nearest medical facility.

The Othakadai police have registered a case and are looking into the matter.

In another case on Wednesday, a woman instructor was murdered with a dagger by a man who entered the school’s staffroom, in the Mallipattinam government school, with the colleagues thoroughly watching the act.

She was rushed to the hospital but the doctors could only pronounce her dead.

MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, described the incident regarding the death of teacher M Ramani as irreparable loss to the school education department and the law will be enforced with regard to the perpetrator of the violence.

While extending his sympathies to the grieving family, the chief minister also specified that he had ordered the provision of a financial assistance of ₹5 lakhs towards the affected family from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami denounced the murder and stated that the incident revealed that public sector teachers and medical practitioners were not safe at their places of work.

"The DMK government has failed to maintain law and order. Murders and other crimes have become very common in Tamil Nadu. At least now, the Chief Minister should devote his attention to maintaining law and order in the state," Palaniswami said in a post on the social media platform 'X'.

In yet another incident, a lawyer was assaulted by a person outside the court premises in Hosur, leading to an outcry.
