LG approves proposal to send government teachers to Finland for training

The issue of sending Delhi government school teachers for Finland training had been a cause of tension between the state government and the Lieutenant Governor for a long time. LG approves proposal to send government teachers to Finland for training

Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the proposal to send Delhi government school teachers for training in Finland. Along with this, the Lieutenant Governor has also increased the number of primary in-charges going for training from 52 to 87. According to the Lieutenant Governor, there are 29 administrative zones and 3 primary incharges from each zone will be able to go for Finland training. The issue of sending Delhi government school teachers for Finland training had been a cause of tension between the state government and the Lieutenant Governor for a long time. Saxena mentioned in his approval that the Arvind Kejriwal-led government had refused to bring on record the impact assessment of foreign training programs conducted in the past.

Taking forward the approach of providing equitable benefits to all, the Lieutenant Governor has increased the number of primary teachers going to Finland for training from 52 to 87, so that all the 29 administrative zones of the education department can take part, said an official of the Lieutenant Governor's office. Equal representation of primary (school) in-charges can be ensured.

"From 29 administrative zones, three in-charges each (total 87) will be selected for the training programme, while the government had arbitrarily fixed this (total) number at 52," the official said. When the Kejriwal government had earlier sent this proposal to the LG, the LG had asked to conduct a cost-benefit analysis and find options for training in the country itself. After this, the Kejriwal government again sent the file of this case to the Lieutenant Governor on 20 January. The Lieutenant Governor has now gone and approved it.
