Last Call From Noida Techie to Father Before Tragic Drowning After Car Crash
Yuvraj Mehta, a member of Sitamarhi in Bihar, was a software engineer with Dunnhumby in Gurugram.
Yuvraj Mehta, a 27 year old software engineer, lost his life after his car sunk into a deep water-filled ditch in Noida, during heavy fog, a story that his father, Rajkumar Mehta, experienced when he was listening to the suffering of his son Yuvraj when he was crying out papa mujhe bacha lo in his final hours.
Yuvraj was a software engineer at Dunnhumby in Gurugram and he was a native of Sitamarhi in Bihar. His mother had died two years ago and his sister resides in the UK. Rajkumar Mehta informed NDTV that Yuvraj had strived so much to make it through his exams and make a career.

Rajkumar got a call and a text message on Friday evening that his car had gone in a ditch and was informed by his son. He hurried to the location and also notified the police and fire brigade. The teams also came within 15 minutes, but the father claimed that they did not have the right resources to extract his son.
Yuvraj spent approximately eighteen hours in the roof of the automobile, between the time at midnights and 2:00 am, and attempted to find a balance such that the vehicle would not sink. He applied his phone flashlight to indicate the point where he was trapped in the heavy fog.
"We took him to the hospital but he was long gone by that time. I tried everything in my power to save him," his father told NDTV. "I was running around everywhere so that someone could come and take him out of there, but to no avail. He was constantly saying 'papa mujhe bacha lo' (papa, save me) during his last hours."
Moninder, a Flipkart delivery agent later came to save him but by now Yuvraj was dead. He was rushed to a hospital and he was declared dead.
This has happened on a Friday evening in the area of Sector 150 as Yuvraj Mehta was heading home after work.

The great fog and the fact that the road had no reflectors caused his car to hit a high-ground ridge dividing two smaller drainage basins and plunge into a ditch 70 feet deep and full of water. Others who were passing by heard the screams of Mehta and attempted to assist her but the car had been fully submerged.
The scene was reached by local police, divers, and teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and an operation commenced to rescue. The spot also had the presence of Mehta father.
A rescue took almost five hours to recover the techie and his car, who were stuck in the ditch. Mehta was however declared dead.
After the accident, the family of Mehta reported to the authorities claiming that the government had not placed reflectors or covered drains within the service road. The father said the accident was due to the lack of reflectors on the road during heavy fog.
The in-charge of Knowledge Park Police Station Sarvesh Kumar said that any negligence in the case will be appeared into and legal action will be taken.
The event also caused a general furor among locals, with some of the locals staging protests and screaming against the government. In their opinion, they had been requesting installation of reflectors and signage along the service road severally, but nothing was done.
Soon after, the police crammed the deep ditch with a number of tons of rubbish and rubble.
