Kolkata Doctor Death: The police diary entry was made at the time 5:20 am, and the woman was found only dressed in underwear when the staff of the hospital reported it to the police at 10:10 am.
The medical board established beyond doubt that rape had taken place, but the writing of the diary shows that the area was not cordoned off until after an autopsy had been conducted.
As pointed out by CJI Chandrachud, the police station’s General Diary proves that, at 10:10 am, the RG Kar Hospital called to report a woman, who had fallen unconscious in the seminar room. He pointed out that, as per the case diary, the crime scene was cordoned only after the postmortem had been conducted.
Counsel shook his head and said ‘My lord, the post-mortem said there was 150 grams of semen’. CJI then counselled against appealing to arguments on social media and said that the court has the post-mortem report and knows what the 150 grams mean.
CJI asked senior advocate Kapil Sibal why the FIR was lodged “14 hours” after the crime was committed as the court began hearing the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

"How was it that the post-mortem was conducted at 6.10 pm on August 9 and yet the unnatural death information is sent to Tala police station at 11.30 pm on August 9. This is extremely disturbing," the bench, also comprising Justice J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, said.
CPI leader Annie Raja Reacted to the Supreme Court's remarks, she said, “It is encouraging that the Supreme Court is taking positive steps in this case. However, our concern extends beyond this single incident.”
“The broader issue is the widespread brutality of rape and murder against women, regardless of their profession, age, region, religion, or caste. Such incidents are occurring repeatedly.”
“We are troubled by how many more women will have to lose their lives before the entire system truly addresses these issues.”
The CBI said on Thursday that it sought permission of the court to take polygraph test of former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital principal, Sandip Ghosh and four doctors, according to news agency ANI.
