Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Accused Sanjay Roy’s Mother-in-Law Reveals His Violent Past, Including Causing a Miscarriage

Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: The mother-in-law of the accused in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor “in Kolkata, said her son-in-law Sanjay Roy that in the past, he had once caused her daughter to miscarriage and explained that their relationship was strained.”
As per the ANI report, she also said that her daughter was physically assaulted and beaten up by Roy in the past and a complaint was lodged with the police.
His mother-in-law Durga Devi said the number of people who raped her daughter might be more than one and that she thinks Roy was not alone.
Her daughter's troubled marriage with Sanjay Roy was narrated to the ANI news agency by Durga Devi.
"My relations with him were very tense," Durga Devi said, adding, "Initially, everything was good for 6 months. When she was 3 months pregnant, he caused a miscarriage. He thrashed her, and a police complaint was registered for the same. Following this, my daughter continued being ill, I bore all her expenses for medicines."
Durga Devi continued, "Sanjoy was not a good person. Hang him or do whatever you want with him. I won't comment on the crime itself, but he couldn’t have done it alone."
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh stated on protesting doctors returning to work, “The Supreme Court has directed the protesting doctors to resume their duties. Since the investigation is now being handled by the CBI and the Supreme Court is overseeing the case, there is no reason for the doctors to continue their strike. The court has urged them to return to work because many people are suffering due to their absence.”

Film director Vivek Agnihotri stated that rape has become a political tool, he said, “Since the time of Direct Action Day, rape has been used as a political tool. In Bengal, we need to end communal, political, and electoral violence."
"To restore Bengal’s greatness, we must completely overhaul the current political system. This government has utterly failed. I’m here because many young people are seeking inspiration. I want them to see that if I can stand up and protest, they can too. To ensure India’s success, we need to make Bengal great again.”
