India’s Retail Inflation Eases: Retail inflation declined between October and November 2024, moving approximately 0.73 percentage points from 6.21% to 5.48%. In India, the Reserve Bank does categorize retail inflation between 2% and 6%. The Index of Industrial Production rose by 3.5% in October 2024 while September brought a rise of 3.1%.

November CPI Inflation: Key Details
- Both CPI(General) and CFPI moved downward and hit lower peaks in July 2024; they had been climbing from August 2024 through October 2024 and again dropped in November 2024, similar to food and beverages inflation.
- The index of the inflation in the urban housing segment stands at 2.87% for November 2024, reflecting a very small increase over October 2024's 2.81%.
- Compared to previous months, November 2024 registered marked declines in the cost of living across several commodity items such as Vegetables, Pulses & Products, Sugar & Confectionary, Fruits, Eggs, Milk and products, Spices, transport & communication and Personal care & effects subgroups.
- The highest All India inflation rates in November 2024 were for garlic (85.14), potato (66.65), cauliflower (47.70), cabbage (43.58) and coconut oil (42.13). The lowest rates were for jeera (-35.04), ginger (-16.96), LPG excluding conveyance (-10.24) and dry chilies (-9.73).

October 2024 IIP Data: Key Highlights
- The Industrial Index of Production rose up to 3.5 percent in October 2024, as compared to the previous rate of 3.1 percent recorded for September 2024.
- Among the three main sectors, Manufacturing have shown a in development of the index of 4.1 percent whereas its counterpart Electricity recorded a growth of 2.0 percent while Mining contributes a gross increase of 0.9 percent at October 2024.
- The Quick Estimates indicates that IIP has risen to 149.9 from 144.9 in October 2023. The sector-wise indices for October 2024 reveal Manufacturing at 147.9, Mining at 128.5, and Electricity achieving 207.8.
