India Slams Pakistan’s Remarks on Kashmiri Women at UNSC, Calls It a ‘Delusional Tirade’
The UN official also criticized Islamabad on the violation of women rights and alleged that it was misleading the world through hyperbole.
India has again accused Pakistan in the United Nations but this time in a debate on women peace and security. Addressing the debate in United Nations Security Council, Permanent Representative of India to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish termed Pakistan as delusional in its tirade against India and particularly Jammu and Kashmir.
"Every year, we are unfortunately fated to listen to the delusional tirade of Pakistan against my country, especially on Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian territory they covet," he said.
The UN representative also criticized Islamabad on its infringement of the rights of women and said that it was leading the world astray with hyperbole.
"This is a country that conducted Operation Searchlight in 1971 and sanctioned a systematic campaign of genocidal mass rape of 400,000 women citizens by its own army. The world sees through Pakistan’s propaganda," he added further.

India reacted to the comments of Counsellor, Saima Saleem who is the member of the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations.
In her speech, Saleem talked about the plight of the Kashmiri women who had experienced sexual violence which had been used as a weapon of war against them over decades of occupation.
"UN human rights mechanisms, including the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and Special Procedures along with organisations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Médecins Sans Frontières, have documented these violations," she said, adding that the types of crimes being reported also comprise structural impunity, intimidation of women human rights defenders and political journalists, revenge against female family members of the disappeared, torture and arbitrary arrests, and rampant trauma of sexual violence and mistreatment.
"To exclude Kashmiri women from the Women, Peace and Security agenda erases its legitimacy and undermines its universality. The Jammu and Kashmir dispute is on this Council's agenda and therefore, future reports must reflect their plight accordingly," she added.
What was operation search light?
The operation Searchlight is a military operation that the Pakistani Army initiated as one of the attempts to halt the Bengali nationalist movement in Bangladesh, East Pakistan at that time.
This led to 300,000 to 3,000,000 Bengali being killed by the Pakistani forces. Moreover, approximately 400,000 Bengali women were also raped in this campaign of mass murder and the sexual genocide of rape.
Indian involvement was also triggered by the ethnic cleansing of Bengalis that was done during this Operation as 10 million Bengali refugees fled the country to the neighbouring nation.
What unfolded between March and April 1971 eventually lead to the Liberation war of 1971 during which East Pakistan seceded and became Bangladesh.
