The police officer said that Shadab, a listed gang shooter, was a maternal nephew of jailed gangster Suhail alias Chappal, who had been on the run the last two years.

On certain intelligence regarding his movement, a group arrested Shadab on April 11 in the Gadi Mendu locality, near Signature Bridge, in northeast Delhi.

They found one loaded semi-automatic pistol and five live cartridges in his possession. Shadab was a wanted suspect in a 2024 murder in Seelampur police station.

The police claimed that on March 9, 2024 Shadab, who was accompanied by other co-accused Umar, and others, had opened fire on two members of the rival Chenu gang, known as Arbaz and Abid alias Bhondu, on a busy road in Seelampur.
