The operation began after Army acted on specific intelligence inputs and tracked the terrorists in the area and exchanged fire soon after making contact.
Sharing the update on X, White Knight Corps said that alert Indian Army troops launched an intelligence based operation in Dul area of Kishtwar in the early hours of August 10 and established contact with terrorists and operation is ongoing.
Kishtwar operation comes as security forces are engaged in Operation Akhal, one of the longest running anti-terror operations in the Valley, now in its 9th day in Kulgam district. Two soldiers — Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh — were killed in an overnight exchange of fire on Friday. Two more were injured, taking the total number of injured to 10 since the operation began.

A police spokesperson said the coordinated surprise raids on multiple locations were carried out on the directions of Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police Naresh Singh and executed under the close supervision of Kishtwar Additional SP Pardeep Singh Goria.
"Multiple police teams were deployed simultaneously across Kishtwar, Chatroo, Dachhan, and Atholi targeting hideouts and residential premises of terrorists and their associates," he said.
"The raids were aimed at disrupting the local support network for cross-border terrorists, gathering actionable intelligence related to anti-national activities, and sending a strong deterrent message to individuals or groups engaged in supporting or sheltering such elements," the spokesperson said.

The Chinar Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, praising their courage and dedication. “Their supreme sacrifice will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families,” the Corps stated.
Security forces including Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF and SOG are engaged in both Kishtwar and Kulgam, to dismantle the militant networks in the area.
The operation comes as forces are still engaged in Operation Akhal in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, one of the longest running anti-terror operations in the Valley.
The operation was launched on August 1 after specific intelligence about terrorist movement in a forested belt. Two terrorists have been killed so far.
In last 10 days, two Army personnel — Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh — have been killed, while 10 others have been injured, two of them on Friday night.
Two terrorists have been confirmed dead, at least two to three are cornered in the forest. Elite PARA units are engaged in flushing them out, drones and attack helicopters are deployed to prevent their escape.
