GRAP 3 Measures Revoked in Delhi-NCR as AQI Improves: Restrictions Lifted
The CAQM earlier invoked the restriction of Stage-III under the GRAP into the entire Delhi-NCR region on Friday, as another surge in air pollution levels was noted. Earlier, on December 27, Stage-III was unlifted from GRAP.

Delhi-NCR: After applying a significant improvement in the air quality index (AQI), the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has announced the revocation of Stage-III actions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR.
However, Stage-I and Stage-II measures will continue to apply, officials said on Sunday.

This comes as a result of the Sub-Committee on GRAP having taken an assessment of the air quality data and the IMD/IITM forecasts, which indicate a downward trend in AQI.
Due to better wind speed and favorable meteorological conditions, the AQI of Delhi has been continuously improving and recorded at 339 at 4:00 PM and 335 at 5:00 PM, following the trend/forecast indicating AQI levels to further go down. The Air Quality & Weather, forecast provided by IMD/ IITM, states further possibility for Delhi-AQI to be in Poor category in the coming days due to favorable meteorological conditions, according to a release.
The CAQM on Friday reinstated Stage-III restrictions under GRAP across Delhi-NCR, with rising levels of air pollution again. Earlier, GRAP Stage-III was lifted on December 27.

Meanwhile, there is a Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-based emergency measures that is being applied from the Delhi-NCR in relation to increasing emissions resulting from the different levels of AQI. Ban on non-"essential" construction work is covered under Stage III of GRAP. All classes up to grade V are mandated to continue in a hybrid mode under Stage III. Availability of online education is optional for parents and students, as needed.
Under Stage-III, use of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel cars (4-wheelers) made restrictions in Delhi and nearby NCR districts. Stage III also bans nonessential diesel-operated medium goods vehicles with BS-IV or older standards in Delhi.
Previously, the Supreme Court ordered that the application of Phase III of the GRAP needs to be followed once the AQI rises above 350 and Phase IV reinstated after it crosses 400. The activation of Stage III and Stage IV was declared on December 16 when the AQI touched 401.
