Government Issues 9 Show‑Cause Notices to Air India for Five Safety Violations in Six Months
One violation has been fulfilled with regard to enforcement action, replied Minister of State, Civil Aviation, in Rajya Sabha on Monday.

Speaking in Rajya Sabha on Monday, Murlidhar Mohol, MoS Civil Aviation, said that 9 showcause notices have been issued to Air India during the last six months in relation to five enumerated safety violations.
In one case in which action on enforcement was done, the Minister of State, Civil Aviation, replied.

The MoS in response to a question on the reasons detected to be behind the June 12 plane crash at Ahmedabad added that there has been no adverse trend about the Air India reliability report in the last six months as regards June 12 plane that has crashed.
“An Investigation has been ordered by Director General, Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau under Rule 11 of the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents & Incidents) Rules, 2017 to determine the probable cause(s)/contributory factor(s) leading to the accident of Air India flight Al-171 at Ahmedabad on 12.06.2025,” the reply read.
“A preliminary report on the accident has been published by AAIB on 12th July, 2025 and is available on their website http://aaib.gov.in. The investigation is in progress to determine the probable cause(s)/contributory factor(s) leading to the accident,” it added.
“During the last six month, no adverse trend has been reported in reliability reports of Air India in respect of crashed aircraft,” it further stated.

June 12 saw an Air India Boeing 787-7 airliner with call sign AI171 on its way to London crash few minutes after take off at the Ahmedabad airport and crashed deep into a medical hostel rapidly killing 241 of the 242 passengers and various others on ground.
Recently, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) came up with results of preliminary investigations regarding the Air India crash. According to the AAIB report its report said that fuel switches of the both engines were severed within seconds of taking off.
According to the recording of the voices understood in the black boxes, one of the pilots queried another questioning why did he cut off. A report by AAIB reveals that the other pilot replied that he did not.
