Genelia Deshmukh Honoured for Her Plant-Based Meat Venture: An ardent practitioner of sustainable living, Genelia Deshmukh co-founded Imagine Foods with husband Riteish Deshmukh-a plant-based meat brand-in 2020. Most recently, she partnered with Starbucks India through her brand to unveil their new plant-based meat menu. Smriti Irani honoured Genelia for her contribution to the plant-based food arena at the MEWA India 2025 conclave. This 3-day ongoing event in Mumbai is discussing sustainability and recognizably innovative efforts.

Genelia shared some perspectives during the conference on supporting brands meant to create a sustainble, positive impact on the environment. She passionately talked about Imagine Food's vision for changing the way people would experience food. She envisions her company providing plant-based meat alternatives that blend taste with sustainability to assist people in consuming their favorite foods while mitigating their environmental footprints.
Imagine Foods began a new menu in Mumbai outlets, including pav bhaji-pull apart, reverse vada pav, and kheema danish, through their recent partnership with Starbucks. Announcing the news with a video showing the new dishes, Genelia wrote, "That is what sharing looks like when you try the Mumbai-special menu."
Talking about her initiative, she said, “We believe that great food shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. Our goal is to provide delicious, nutritious, and sustainable alternatives that let people enjoy the flavours they love while making a positive impact."

Sharing her views about the platform, she added, “MEWA India 2025 is a fantastic platform to showcase the future of food, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this movement."
The three-day conclave had returned to Mumbai for its second edition, gathering the world's major players in the nuts and dry fruits industry. Held at the Jio World Convention Centre from February 12 to 14, the event is being organized by the Nuts and Dry Fruits Council of India, featuring panel discussions and a trade show. With over 300 exhibitors from the US, Chile, Iran, Turkey, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Australia, MEWA 2025 promises to be a landmark event aimed at boosting B2B networking and trade opportunities.
