Fire Erupts at MPs’ Flats on Delhi’s BD Marg; Firefighters Rush to Spot | Watch Video
There was an explosion of a huge fire in the Brahmaputra Apartments of the MPs in Gole Market area. At least six 14 tenders have rushed to the spot and firefighters are now trying to put the fire off.
A massive fire engulfed the Brahmaputra Apartments in BD Marg in Delhi - residential flats allocated to Members of Parliament (MP). Photos of the scene depicted heavy smoke and soot that fell on a section of the MP flats as firefighters fought the fire and tried to put it out.
There are at least 14 fire tenders hurried to the location and the firefighters are busy suppression of the fire as per news agency reports.
Brahmaputra apartments is an apartment complex which houses MPs of the Rajya Sabha, at Bishambhar Das Marg in the capital.

What is the extent of damage?
The ADO of the Delhi Fire Service also reported that when the news of the fire reached him 14 fire tenders were hurried to the area including a turntable ladder (TTL) as the apartment is a high-rise building.
"So far, the damage is mostly on the stilt floor, and the upper floors are damaged externally. The fire has been brought under control, but our work is still ongoing... There is no casualty report yet..." ADO Delhi Fire Service, Bhupender told reporters.

Residents injured
The Brahmaputra Apartments being one of these, one of the residents of this multi-storied building residing on the third floor, claimed that his wife and children were injured in a fire breakout. ANI reported that they are in the process of treatment in a local hospital.
“My dog was stuck inside. My daughter is about to be married in a matter of months, and all the jewellery, gold, and clothes we had bought are also inside,” ANI quoted the resident, Vinod as saying.
What caused the fire?
The cause of the fire is still to be established.
Eyewitnesses also reported that the fire hydrant in the apartment was not in operation, there was no water in the tank and in pipelines, which is a report by NDTV.
