Delhi CM Attacker Has 9 Cases in Rajkot; Mother Says He ‘Loves Dogs, Has Mental Issues’
Rajesh Khimji Sakriya has been arrested on various occasions ever since 2017, nearly on all drunken rowdyism cases

Delhi CM Attacker Has 9 Cases in Rajkot: As Delhi Police arrested Rajesh Khimji Sakriya on Wednesday after he assaulted Delhi CM Rekha Gupta during her s extensive Jan Sunwai at the Nirman Vihar police station, The Indian Express has learnt that Sakriya, a resident of Rajkot city in Gujarat, has nine cases against him in a single police station, mostly due to his drunken misconduct, including criminal intimidation and assault.
Bhanu Khimji Sakriya, a resident of the police station area of the Aji Dam police station area in Rajkot told the media that her son loved dogs and had been aggrieved by the recent verdict of the Supreme Court that authorities in Delhi must get rid of all stray dogs by picking them up and putting them in stray dog shelters.

Speaking to mediapersons hours after the incident, Bhanu Sakriya said, “He went to Delhi on Sunday and reached there on Monday. When his father asked him about his whereabouts, Rajesh said he had gone to Delhi for the dogs.”
His family, father and brother, all drive rickshaws in Rajkot and they are aged 36 years.
When asked why he may have assaulted CM Gupta, his mother said, “His mind is like that. He will hit anyone. He has hit me also and his wife as well. He has mental (issues) but is not on any medication. He got so angry upon learning about the dogs issue that he almost broke the bed hitting it in anger.”
DCP Jagdish Bangarwa of Rajkot City Police told The Indian Express, “According to his mother, Rajesh Sakriya appears to be an animal lover who was disturbed by the SC judgement. He lives in Rajkot only, but has gone to Delhi because of this dog issue.”
Police even enquired about the possibility of attack by Sakriya on Delhi CM aiming at release of a relative. On this, DCP Bangarwa said, “We checked but Sakriya has no relatives in prison.”

But the product itself has a long history with the Rajkot City Police as Sakriya is also part of the police. Accessing police document, The Indian Express revealed that he has been booked in nine cases during the last 5 years and all those are registered at a Bhaktinagar police station in Rajkot.
He was arrested on charges of voluntary attempt to murder in September, 2017, abetting to needless hurt and put under precautionary arrest in November, 2017.
And he was booked 3 times this year in August, October and November, all on drunken misconduct.
He was arrested on a criminal intimitation charge in February 2021.
He entered preventive detention in January 2022, then in July and November, was imprisoned on suspicion of drunken disorder.
