Mumbai Rains LIVE: Trains Rescheduled as IMD Issues ‘Orange’ Alert for City, ‘Red’ for Thane
IMD has announced a red alert in the city on Wednesday, August 20, as heavy rainfall is continuing to upset the normalcy of the daily routine in the city.

Mumbai Rains LIVE: Mumbai is still reeling under the heavy monsoon conditions where heavy rain is battering the city that has given rise to waterlogging, traffic jams, delays across all modes of transport.
Union Minister of State for MOS (I/C) Home Ministry, and the National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, has struck an emergency meeting in the city where he was accompanied by the Home Secretary and the National Security Advisor (NSA).

Train services and flights are disrupted in the financial capital of India and the authorities also closed schools and colleges.
The services of the monorail which were stopped on Tuesday night (August 19) have been restored.
At 8.30 am on August 20, Mumbai had received 200mm rainfall during the last 24 hours at Santacruz observatory, the IMD said.

"The Colaba observatory in south Mumbai received 107.4 mm rain, whereas the Santacruz observatory in the western suburbs reported 209 mm during the 24-hour period," an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Other metropolitan regions also experienced heavy rains. Vikhroli was recorded getting 229.5 mm, Mumbai airport 208 mm, Byculla 193.5 mm, Juhu 150 mm and Bandra 137.5 mm rainfall during this period (Tuesday and Wednesday morning), as per PTI.
In addition to the neighbourhood districts that have also experienced excessive rain on Tuesday, the popular Matheran hill station in Raigad experienced the most rainfall of 382.5 mm, IMD said.
