Dayalpur, Nand Nagari police stations in North East Delhi arrested auto lifter, serial snatcher

Two police stations in North East District Delhi Police made commendable efforts to arrest one active auto lifter and a serial snatcher respectively.

On January 25, 2022, during patrolling in the area of police station Dayalpur, the police team comprising Head Constable Anil and two constables Harendra and Satbir received secret information and reached near Brijpuri Puliya, Nala road.

“At around 7:15 PM, on the instance of an informer, a person namely Hemant@ Rahul who was riding a motorcycle Splendor plus No. DL-5S AK-4800 was stopped for checking. On questioning, he could not produce any documents related to the ownership of the motorcycle. During the course of the investigation the motorcycle was found to be stolen,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North-East Delhi, said.

On further interrogation, he confessed to his crime and disclosed his involvement in multiple cases. On his instance, one more stolen motorcycle TVS Apache No. DL -7S CG-6503 was recovered.

“In another separate case, Nand Nagri police station arrested a snatcher/auto lifter and recovered a stolen scooty. On January 26, 2022, at about 12:30 AM during checking at Gagan Cinema Picket, a person riding a Scooty No. DL-5SCH-4082 was signalled to stop for checking by Sub Inspector Bintu Sharma,” Sain said.

Instead of stopping, the rider of the scooty sped up and tried to escape from the spot. Head Constable Devender and Constables Naveen caught hold of the rider after a brief chase.

On checking, the Scooty was found to be stolen. Accordingly, scooty has been seized and action u/s 41.1 (d) and 102 CrPC had been initiated. His identity was established as Suraj resident of Behta village of Hazipur in Uttar Pradesh.

During the investigation, he confessed to his crime and revealed his involvement in many cases of snatching. The above scooty also surfaced during the scanning of CCTV footage in the snatching case of police station Jyoti Nagar.
