Chinese Store Replaces Mannequins with Women on Treadmills: A new clip from China has emerged and stirred the net with female models positioned in a treadmill in front of a designer’s shop located in a mall. The models who replaced the mannequins were used to display the new collection of the brand so as to entice the shoppers.

The 11-second video became widely shared after the account identified as Science Girl shared it on the X platform. In the clip, women seem to be modeling clothes by walking on treadmills beside clothes shops which is meant to help the customers visualize the fitting of the clothes.

Social media users, however, let their opinions and thoughts out in the regards and comments section as the video on X was doing almost 10 million views.

Some users flagged concerns: “That’s wild. I suppose it is job security and helps them get their steps in for the day. What happens when they need to use the toilet? Hope they get a break.”

Others were shocked: “I have no idea how someone could do this, even though people can walk for prolonged periods of time. This has to be incredibly boring.”

Similarly, in July, a woman dressed as a mannequin was captured in Manto Bride’s store located at Festival City Mall in Dubai.

The internet has been buzzing about this mercenary trend; some argue that it is degrading. While many others simply found it hilarious as being paid to exercise, for instance, was the fun in it.

This is not the first time a retailer has engaged in using live displays of models. Recently, another similar concept was used in the city of Dubai in a famous shopping mall where a model stood at the entrance with the conventional mannequins, drawing all the attention of the people walking in.

The video has been met with harsh criticism on various social media platforms, with some calling it exploitative. One such user stated, “This is inhumane. I mean, just look at the poor girl’s feet! And why on earth would they do this when there are ordinary mannequins?”
