Chinese Foreign Minister to Visit India Next Week for Talks with NSA Ajit Doval

When PM Modi travels to China to attend the SCO summit, Wang Yi, Chinese foreign minister will talk to India national security adviser Ajit Doval on border issues.

Chinese Foreign Minister to Visit India Next Week for Talks with NSA Ajit Doval

Wang Yi, the Chinese foreign minister is set to visit India this week where he is expected to meet with the National Security Adviser Ajit Doval to discuss the bigger issue of border between the two nations.

This trip by the Chinese leader will precede the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tianjin in China to participate in Shanghai Cooperation Organisation to be held in China, the Chinese leader will be accompanied by the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin among other world leaders.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are also present in the SCO ministerial meetings held earlier in June during this year.

Jaishankar had earlier met with Jinping in Beijing where he updated him on the recent events in India-China relations whilst insisting that the support of the leadership was needed to see the bilateral relations improve.

The establishments got stabilised slowly between both nations after the May 2020 incursion of Chinese forces in Ladakh that eventually resulted in the Galwan confrontation that claimed the lives of 20 Indian army personnel along with some Chinese counterparts.

Following frosty relations spanning more than four years, the revival of bilateral relations between the two Asian giants long came with PM Modi and Jinping meeting on the sidelines of the 16 th BRICS meeting in Kazan on October 23, 2024.

Shortly before the meeting, the two countries had, then, agreed to resume patrolling of the Depsang Plains region in Eastern Ladakh.

The two leaders were glad to accept the deal on full disengagement and settlement of the problems that developed in 2020 in Indian and Chinese border locations. The PM Modi had emphasized the significance of effectively managing differences and conflicts and not letting them being disruptive to the peace and tranquillity.

During the June, they agreed to restart direct air links, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra to pilgrims and move forward to facilitate visas and also to exchange information on transnational rivers. The Indian Embassy in China noted in the previous month that India will again start the issuance of tourist visas to Chinese nationals.
