Bomb Threat at Two Delhi Schools: Students Evacuated Safely On December 9, 2024, over 40 schools in Delhi, including DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar recieved bomb threats via email. The threat asked for a ransom of ₹24 lakh (30,000 USD) and said multiple bombs were planted in the school.
Over 40 Delhi schools received bomb threats via email on Monday morning, according to Delhi Police. The email allegedly stated, "I planted multiple bombs inside (school) buildings. The bombs are small and hidden very well. While they won’t cause significant damage to the buildings, they will injure many people when detonated. If I do not receive $30,000, I will detonate the bombs," as reported by ANI.
Students were evacuated as police and fire department reached the spot, no suspicious objects were found. Investigations are on and authorities are being asked to tighten school security.

A police spokesperson said a thorough investigation into the source of the threat has been initiated.
The email said multiple small bombs were planted in the school buildings. The sender warned that if the demand of $30,000 was not met, the bombs would be detonated. This sent panic among parents and school authorities. The security teams searched the schools but no explosives were found.

Delhi Police has mobilized bomb disposal squads and dog units to search the schools. Authorities are taking it seriously and are working with school administration to ensure student safety. After a recent direction from Delhi High Court, local authorities are under pressure to prepare comprehensive action plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for such situations.
This is not the first time educational institutions in Delhi are being targeted by bomb threats. Many schools were threatened earlier this year and students were evacuated and security was beefed up. These repeated incidents are raising questions about the need for robust security in schools.
Schools being targeted by bomb threats is a wake up call for better safety and community awareness. These incidents disrupt education and create fear among students and parents. We need to create an environment where authorities and schools work together.
