BJP Government in Haryana Loses Support: Three Independent MLAs Withdrawn And Supports Congress

Three Independent MLAs Withdrawn And Supports Congress: On Tuesday, three independent MLAs supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana withdrew their support.

As the government is reduced to a "minority", the Congress party demanded Assembly elections under the President's rule.

Rohtak's three Independent MLAs, Sombir Sangwan (Dadri), Randhir Singh Gollen (Pundri), and Dharampal Gonder (Nilokheri), announced their withdrawal from the government.

The announcement was made at a press conference in Rohtak attended by former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and State Congress chief Udai Bhan.

Gonder noted, “We are withdrawing support to the government. We are extending our support to the Congress.”

“We have taken this decision on various issues including those related to farmers,” he said. Speaking at the presser, Udai Bhan said, “The three Independent MLAs — Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Singh Gollen and Dharampal Gonder — have withdrawn their support to the BJP government and extended their support to the Congress.”

Independent MLAs agreed that the people had seen the workings of the BJP, and there was no reason to give the party another chance.

Unemployment, inflation, and crime are hitting every section of society under the current government.

The Haryana Assembly has 88 members, of which 40 are members of the BJP. Earlier, the BJP had the support of JJP and Independent MLAs.

Mr. Udaibhan added, “With the withdrawal of support by the three MLAs and Jannayak Janta Party’s (JJP) exit from the government, it is clear that a minority government is running the State. In such a situation, the BJP has no moral right to remain in power. The government should face Assembly election. This should be conducted by immediately imposing President’s rule in Haryana.”

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also said on this adjustment, “I got know about this, I saw that report but I don’t have information on it…Our people will give you a statement when we get the information. None of our governments are in any danger. I am not even sure if the news is true or false.”

At present, Haryana's State Assembly has an effective strength of 88 members out of 90.

In March this year, the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP won the trust vote with six Independents and the lone MLA from the Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) supporting it.
