Bihar PSC Exam Protest: Prashant Kishor Alleges Massive Corruption in Recruitment Process

Bihar PSC Exam Protest: Prashant Kishore, the Jan Suraaj Party founder, who made the allegations that, "I have learnt that thousands of crores of rupees have changed hands for filling posts to be filled by Bihar PSC exam, that is being cancelled by many candidates". It was quite disappointing for the former confidant of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar when asked about the refusal of his ex-mentor to "utter a single word" on a stir which has lasted for almost two weeks.

Remembering the demonstration he addressed Saturday, Kishor said till about 4 PM he kept telling the aspirants to "look forward" for a statement from the chief minister, who might take a stand that could break the stalemate.

Nearly five lakh candidates had appeared at more than 900 centres across the state for the Combined Competitive Exams.

At one of the exam centres in Patna hundreds of students protested the exam by refusing to take it, saying the papers were "leaked".

This was denied by Bihar Public Service Commission and saw a "conspiracy" to get the exams cancelled at work, despite re-examination ordered for over 10,000 candidates who were assigned to the Bapu Pariksha Parisar at the epicenter of the controversy.

The arguments of the protestors: Such re-examination for a handful of students would go against the principle of a level playing field and hence the entire examination should be held afresh.

However, Kishor did not wish to carry the allegation further, having heard it, but aspired for a "positivity" after Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena showed readiness to talk with a delegation of the agitating candidates. though he believed "corruption was rampant in BPSC".

Who all are rounding on him to draw flak when at this time the protests are being left in an asthmatic situation on a Sunday evening post police action where lathi charges and water jets have taken place?

Jan Suraaj Party founder, currently under fire for said "fleeing" the scene of protests, has found help in his allegations to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav while another chief minister's top JD(U) leader hailed him as "political fugitive" Neeraj Kumar.

"Fraudulent" individual, according to independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, has also "sold out" the students' agitation assuring him to come into the picture in the BPSC row with the Governor, Rajendra Arlekar, adding for all those who paid the money.

Kishor insisted that those who faced police action had "stayed back at Gandhi Maidan after most of us agreed to disperse upon learning that the chief secretary was willing to talk".

The Jan Suraaj Party founder also expressed surprise over names of his party candidates-prior top bureaucrats-in an FIR lodged by the administration for carrying out unauthorized protest.

"What have we been held guilty of? No vandalism took place. The movement of no VIP convoy was obstructed. Nor was any public event affected by our programme. On the contrary, we believe many police officials went in to an overdrive and we will file a complaint against them in court," Kishor said.

He claimed, "Such is the state of affairs in Bihar because the state is being run by people with no accountability. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has handed over everything to his coterie of retired bureaucrats, who are not accountable to the people like political leaders are, nor are they bound by service rules like serving officers".
