Bihar Government Official Car Violates Traffic Rules, Occupant Allegedly Threatens Man

Bihar Government Official Car Violates Traffic Rules: In a video posted to social media, a car allegedly belonging to a government official in Bihar drives against traffic flow on the wrong side of the road and then intimidates another driver.

The footage, recorded from another vehicle's dashcam, shows the car coming from the opposite direction and halting in the middle of the road. Despite being in the wrong, the occupant of the vehicle attempted to intimidate the man driving in the right direction despite being in the wrong.

Once the two cars halt, the official realizes that the other car won't move and approaches it. In a heated confrontation, the driver of the other vehicle refused to budge, insisting the police be called to address the traffic violation.

An incident occurred on April 1 near a flyover in Mithapur, Patna amid congested traffic. The Tata Harrier XZ's number plate is red-blue.

Even as people gathered around to watch, the other driver resisted the official's intimidation tactics and threats.

"Kaahe itne kaabil ban rahe ho, gaadi ke saath hi rakh lenge abhi tumko bhi aur gaadi ko bhi, samjha? (Why are you pretending to be smart and capable. I'll lock you up and your car together)," the official is heard saying to the driver, who remains calm and questions his traffic violation instead.

Though the official intimidated and threatened the person in the other car, they refused to move. Since he was driving on the right side, he refuses to move his car and tells the officer he will take his SUV if he wants. This upsets him more.

As the official repeatedly told him to move from the opposite lane, the driver said he had recorded the whole incident and insisted on calling the police.

The officer then returned to his vehicle. A dashboard camera was used to record the incident, and the driver informed someone about the ongoing altercation "He came from the wrong side."

I won't move my car until he gets a police officer. I have pictures and videos. He has a government plate on his car and thinks he's very important," the man told me over the phone. By standing his ground, the man made the bullying civil servant back off, according to netizens.

Over 1.9 million people have viewed the post since it was posted on April 4. It has also received more than 24,000 likes and numerous comments.

Some users said “Bihar is not even for bihari people. The person was showing attitude like he owns Bihar. He must be fired ASAP and kudos to the man who stood up,” while other commented "Coming on wrong side and arguing too....they only dont follow rules."

Several people have tagged the Chief Minister's Office, urging strict action against the official, and the number plate of the car has also been shared. To date, neither the Bihar Police nor the CMO has responded.

Four-wheelers in Bihar are fined Rs 3,000 for driving on the wrong side of the road.
