Bengal Man Sentenced to Death After Surviving Suicide Attempt: A verdict was pronounced toward a 42 -year-old private tutor from West Bengal, Monday, and gave him a death sentence for killing his father, mother, and sister sometime in 2021. Ironically, at Dhaniakhali in Hooghly, this man, identified as Pramathes Ghosal, had attempted to commit suicide, severing his wrists at that time but could be saved. The judge of the Chinsurah trial-powered by his death sentence said, although it sounds very true, that the crime was "rarest of rare".

According to TOI, the convict was quiet, mild-mannered, and reported to have killed Ashim, Subhra, and 38-year-old Pallavi, who was married.

Pramathes has been the sole breadwinner of the family. The dead stayed with him.

On the day of the incident, a bleeding convict was found by the students of this man visiting the house for some tuition. The informants were the students.

Police took him to the hospital where they located the bodies of the father, mother, and sister. They were initially hit by a blunt instrument and afterward slashed. Pramathes was arrested after surviving his suicide attempt.

As per police, the convict told them he got tired of their demands for money. He had no permanent job, and even after the lockdown due to Covid, his income decreased sharply.

Despite this, local people said he earned a good enough sum to finance their needs. The court, however, rejected his innocence plea.

This sentence will be sent to the Calcutta high court for confirmation.
