Atishi Thanks ‘Guru’ Arvind Kejriwal: AAP leader Atishi, who was elected as the next chief minister of Delhi on Tuesday, thanked her ‘guru’ Arvind Kejriwal for giving her ‘such a huge responsibility’. In her first reaction, the minister said she was saddened that Kejriwal was going to resign as the chief minister today when AAP was announced in the media.

Having received the bale in the Delhi excise policy case last week, Arvind Kejriwal said that he would step down as the chief minister of Delhi within 48 hours on Sunday. He said that he won’t take up the post of leading minister for Delhi until he received a ‘Certificate of Honesty’ from the Delhi citizens. He threatened the Election Commission to go ahead with Delhi assembly elections in November.

The newly formed political party in India known as the Aam Aadmi Party has today declared that Atishi will take over from Arvind Kejriwal.

"I want to thank Delhi's popular CM, my guru, Arvind Kejriwal, for giving me such a huge responsibility. It can happen only in AAP that a first-time politician can become the CM. I come from a normal family. If I would have been in any other party, I wouldn't have even got a poll ticket," Atishi said, per PTI.

When Atishi was asked what Arvind Kejriwal did for her, she replied that he made her an MLA as well as a minister in Delhi government.

"Arvind Kejriwal trusted me, made me an MLA, minister and today gave me the responsibility to become the CM. I am happy that Arvind Kejriwal has shown so much trust in me, but more than that I am sad because my elder brother Arvind Kejriwal is resigning today," she added.

She further said that Delhi has only one chief minister that is Arvind Kejriwal only, meaning only AAP government is authorized to speak on Delhi’s behalf.

"I want to say today on behalf of AAP MLAs and two crore people of Delhi that Delhi has only one CM and his name is Arvind Kejriwal," she added.

Atishi, one of the tallest leadership of AAP, had the courage to publicly fight BJP when even the AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Dy-convener Sh Manish Sisodia and AAP rajya sabha MP Sanjay Singh were behind the bars in corruption cases. Atishi was entrusted with several important positions and she effectively supported Delhi governments stand on its policies.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi excise policy on March 11. He was lately released on bail by the Supreme Court but under strict stipulation that he should not surround near Chief Minister’s office.

The Bharatiya Janata Party asserted that Kejriwal had understood the conditions in Supreme Court hence the resignation of the position of the chief minister.
