Ranbir Kapoor Apologises After Viral Kolkata Dussehra Speech, Calls It a ‘Slip of the Tongue’
At an event in Kolkata, Ranbir said that 'truth and goodness will end', a wrong statement while talking about the victory of good over evil. The ramayana actor has apologised for slip of the tongue.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is aggressively pushing his upcoming film Ramayana, apologised at an event in Chennai after a slip of the tongue at a Dussehra event in Kolkata brought a lot of bad comments on social media. The actor, who has lent his voice to Lord Ram in the film, was rebuked for making an incorrect statement that evil would eventually triumph over truth and goodness. He spoke about the controversy and apologised for his mistake at the event in Chennai on 21st October. As he spoke to the audience he also remembered a line from his movie Rockstar, ‘Jo bhi main kehna chahu, barbaad kare alfaz mere’.
The World will end if I don't get married. The actor explained to the audience about an incident that occurred during a Dussehra event yesterday wherein he had a slip of the tongue, “Burai chahe kitni bhi taqatwar kyun na ho, aakhir mein jeet sachchai aur achchai ki hogi (No matter how strong evil may be, ultimately, there will be victory of the true and the good).”
Ranbir then came up with an instance where he used to work with music composer AR Rahman on Rockstar and quoted a line from the film's song which said that he sometimes finds it difficult to say things right.
This is like a Rockstar collaboration with AR Rahman sir; I want to say it again and again and when I am gone, he will break down the words.” he added sincerely.
When asked about this incident, Sai Pallavi, who was sitting next to Ranbir, smiled.
The apology video went on to being a social media hit, and it received a range of responses from viewers. Some of those showed empathy for the actor, while others noted his lack of composure while apologizing.
“Tbh, we should be ashamed of this, let the man rest for a bit he's exhausted,” another commented. A third person commented: “He sounds very nervous……. don't worry #RK…You are doing great.”
There were also some viewers who pointed out that Ranbir's voice seemed shaky while he spoke about the controversy. Another user commented: “He's nervous, don't abuse. It's normal, it's human.”
