PM Modi Kerala Visit: PM Modi will flag off Kochi Metro and INS Vikrant on a two-day visit to Kerala today
On September 2, the PM will flag off the country's first indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. He will induct Vikrant at the Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi and unveil the new naval flag.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kerala on a two-day visit today. PM Modi's visit will begin with various programs including the inauguration of development projects of Kochi Metro and Indian Railways. He will lay the foundation stone of the Kochi Metro Phase-II project at 6 pm today and will inaugurate the first phase of Kochi Metro from SN Junction to Vadakkekotta. Apart from this, he will address a public meeting and visit the Adi Shankara Janmabhoomi Temple.

Kochi Metro said in a statement that the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Metro will take place at the CIAL Trade Fair and Exhibition Centre. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will also attend the event. The proposed Phase-II corridor of the Kochi Metro Rail Project from JLN Stadium Metro Station to Infopark, Kakkanad will have 11.2 km and 11 stations. With the inauguration of Phase IA, the Kochi Metro will cover a distance of at least 27 km with 24 stations. The revenue operations of both the stations will start at 7 pm, soon after Modi dedicated the station to the people of Kochi.
PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for three station redevelopment projects worth an estimated Rs 1,059 crore under Railway Development Projects for Kerala. These railway stations will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and world class facilities. It will have departure corridors, skywalks, spacious parking lots, attractive landscapes with gardens and inter-modal transport facilities.
