Meghalaya Murder Case: Minister Demands Apology from Raja and Sonam’s Families After Shocking Arrests
Laloo Hek stated that he now wants the families of Sonam and Raja to apologize to the state in light of their allegations.
Meghalaya Murder Case: Amidst the ongoing controversy about Raja Raghuvanshi's murder, Meghalaya minister Alexander Laloo Hek on Tuesday demanded that the families of both Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi apologize for allegedly 'damaging' the reputation of the state and people of Meghalaya.
While thanking the police for the development in the investigation, Laloo Hek told reporters that he now wants the families of Sonam and Raja to apologize to the state after their allegations.
Hek said while speaking to ANI news agency,"Now we are seeking an apology from Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi's families for tarnishing the image of Meghalaya and its people. We will file a case of defamation if they don't comply."

About the case, the minister further said, "The accused will be brought here since the incident took place in the state. We do not have any issue if they want to hand over the case to the state police, central police or the probe agency, but the truth has already prevailed."
The minister's comments follow the family of Raja Raghuvanshi had previously written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek a CBI investigation as their son and daughter-in-law have gone missing during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.
Sonam's arrest unravelled the murder mystery
Following the recovery of Raja Raghuvanshi's body, the Meghalaya Police achieved a major breakthrough in the case with a series of arrests on Monday. All of the accused are being taken to Meghalaya for investigation.
Earlier on Tuesday, Anand, the fourth accused and a suspect in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, was also sent to the magistrate in transit remand for 7 days.
Police recovered Sonam, the wife of Raja Raghuvanshi, in Uttar Pradesh. After that, the police took her to Sadar hospital for initial treatment. Now she is being placed at the Sakhi One Stop Centre, a shelter provided for women who are victims of violence.
Sonam (25), who is alleged to have been involved in the murder of her husband, voluntarily surrendered her self to the Nandganj Police Station in Ghazipur district in adjoining Uttar Pradesh, after which she was subsequently arrested, according to the Meghalaya police.
