Massive Waves Form in Swimming Pool Water During Taiwan Earthquake: Hundreds of buildings were damaged and tsunami warnings were issued for Japan and the Philippines after the 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan on April 3. In the midst of dramatic visuals of buildings shaking, bridges swaying, and people scrambling for cover, a terrifying video of a rooftop swimming pool has gone viral on social media.
It shows a man caught in a swimming pool amid heavy waves caused by the earthquake. Despite the horrifying situation, he remains calm and doesn't move. The video was taken in Taipei, Taiwan's capital.
An Instagram video shows a rooftop swimming pool's water falling like a waterfall from a skyscraper's side.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the loss of life in Taiwan's earthquake, expressing India's solidarity with the "resilient" people.
He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to earthquakes in Taiwan today. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved families and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured. We stand in solidarity with the resilient people of Taiwan as they endure and recover from the aftermath."
Taiwanese officials say this is the biggest earthquake since 1999 when 2,400 people died.
