An alert police team of Khajuri Khas has arrested a notorious robber who was involved in multiple cases of snatching, theft and robbery. The ream has recovered one button actuated knife, one stolen scooty and nine stolen mobile phones.
On March 7, a Police team comprising Sub-Inspector Arvind, Head Constables Raj Kumar and Constables Hawa Singh and Chand Ram were patrolling for prevention of street crime and detention of criminal/suspects.
“At around 8 in the evening, they reached near Sani Mandir Khajuri Pusta Main Road and randomly started checking suspected vehicles. At about 8:30, a person riding a red colour scooty was noticed coming towards police picket but on seeing police team checking the vehicles, he tried to take a U-turn for fleeing,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North-East District, Delhi, said.
He added, “However, his scooty skidded and fell down on road. The police staff quickly caught hold of him. On asking the reason for avoiding police check and ownership documents, he tried to mislead the police team and could not produce any reliable documents.”
During a cursory search, a button actuated knife and two mobile phones were recovered from his possession. On examination, the scooty bearing registration No DL-5SBF-2193 was found to be stolen from Bhajnpura.
On further search, seven mobile phones were recovered from the storage compartment of his scooty for which he could not reply satisfactorily. Accordingly, a case has been registered. He was arrested and an investigation was taken up.
During the course of the investigation, his identity was established as 24-year-old Aniket. Out of 9 recovered mobile phones, 2 found stolen from Khajuri Khas.
“He confessed for his crime and revealed his involvements in other cases also. On sustained interrogation his involvements in 28 cases of robbery/snatching etc. also surfaced. Sincere efforts to connect the 7 mobile phones with cases are on. Further investigation of the case is under progress,” DCP Sain added.
