Here’s why 'Lana Del Rey' skipped the 2022 Met Gala
The Millennial Sylvia Plath was indulged with her ‘First Love’
We know, Hope is a Dangerous Thing, but we still had it, manifesting, maybe, this year, Lana Del Rey, who possesses unparalleled Purity and Tragedy in her voice, would make a resurgence. The theme, after all, was “Gilded Glamour” for the opening night of “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” The Gilded Glamour, though open to diverse perceptions, primarily suggested: “The Gilded Age” in New York City, when colossal architecture, timeless mansions, veteran skyscrapers, and exquisite parks were contrived. You know, the kind of architecture, where you visualize Lana Del Rey dancing around, in her fucking Nightgown.
There could have been no perfect muse for this year’s theme other than Del Rey. In “Doin Time”, Skyscraper-High Lana walks around checking herself through Top-Floor Windows, demonstrating the vintage-city, and its undercurrent developments. Rey has often used The Star-Spangled Banner in her music videos, solidifying the “Vintage-Americana” Aesthetic, which she put to a standstill when Trump took office. “Gilded Glamour” invoked the psychedelic imagery, Lana’s visuals, melody, and creative alchemy institutes, and so it would have been just perfect, had she given us an appearance there.
We are after all craving something from the Young and Beautiful Hitmaker, who has vanished from Instagram and Twitter. Though our anticipations have been sent to a devastating obituary, putting our crisis behind us, the reason Lana Del Rey was absent from the Biggest Fashion Night as she decided to make a surprise appearance at the Stagecoach Festival. The singer joined Nikki Lane and accompanied her in performing two songs, one being “Breaking Up Slowly”, a song from Lana’s Chemtrails Over the Country Club Album. Music, after all, is the millennial Sylvia Plath’s first love, and we’re grateful to have had a glance of her.
