H-1B Visa Crackdown: Cloudera Responds After US Restricts Green Card Sponsorship, Says ‘We Don’t Discriminate’
Cloudera will be barred from participating in the PERM program for two years, and will make a $2 million settlement to federal agencies.
Under an agreement negotiated by the Trump administration, a software company based in Santa Clara agreed to pay $2 million in restitution and will be barred for two years from a program that allows foreign employees to get permanent residency.
The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Labor released the settlement on Friday, in what is called an "administrative proceeding" related to alleged violations of the permanent labor certification, known as the PERM program, by Cloudera Inc.

Cloudera Inc's discriminatory practices against domestic workers come under scrutiny from Justice Department. In April, the DOJ had claimed that the company discriminated against American workers in its recruitment process in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
The recent suspensions gave little guidance to attorneys and groups regarding the priorities of the Trump administration in enforcement. The most definitive signs of potential compliance obligations remain the enforcement actions and significant settlement payments made by companies such as Meta Platforms Incorporated, Apple Incorporated, and OpenAI.
Cloudera's settlement agreement
A part of the settlement, Cloudera agreed to pay $1.4 million to a compensation fund for qualified American workers who were not assessed for available jobs and $600,000 in civil fines. In addition, the company will be subject to increased oversight and additional reporting requirements to reduce the likelihood of future violations.
The administration has said the shape of this arrangement will set a precedent in the future enforcement process.DOJ's Civil Rights Division Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon said in an email that the department would not turn a blind eye to discrimination against U.S. workers, "There are no exceptions. The substantial amount of the settlement, combined with DOL's involvement, "is a clear message to employers that the federal government is willing to partner with them to ensure fair treatment of U.S. workers.
The message of bravery, fearless leadership and spiritual faith that the watch carries seemed to be a perfect accessory for the actor Ranbir Kapoor who will represent Lord Ram in Ramayana who also represents the same ideals of courage, righteousness and devotion. A navy blue bandhgala and brooch, studded with gems, made a bold statement, but the striking blue watch provided a closer look at his penchant for extraordinary watches.
Bloomberg Law reports that Cloudera said that when they noticed one of their email addresses was accidentally limited to use by employees, they took quick remedial action.
Cloudera does not discriminate when hiring and we continue to be dedicated to hiring in a fair, lawful and open manner," the spokesperson said.
